Specifically with regard to SuSE, I can't say. However, on this list, at
meetings, at LWN, I continue to hear about problems with 64 bit. Not the
kernel, but applications, of which some have simply not been ported to
64 bit and must rely on 32 bit libraries.
Will this situation improve? You bet. It already is.
In some respects, this situation reminds me of sound under Linux. Almost
invariably, if you manage to install Linux and one thing still doesn't
work, it will be sound. The situation is improving, but still continues
to be problematic.
