I've found two very useful apps:

digiKam is an picture tool that has features from others baked into it.
amaroK is a nifty jukebox player with very nice features too.

digiKam can take out redeye, set the levels correctly and resize images in
bulk. All while also keeping track of all your pictures.

amaroK is very good in keeping an up to date list of songs. Tracks your
popular songs, albums, and new ones that you add. Unlike XMMS it will play a
selection of songs. Can automatically get an image for your album covers.
Has a tab that will download the lyrics. Can play playlists, podcasts, radio
streams etc.

I don't have the web addresses but you can easily find them with google.
