Which is probably why it is written from scratch and not any more assailable
than Linux. Besides, since MS has already sent their lawyers to DC to try to
get Linux banned I don't think they will get more in the crosshairs than
anyone else. (Of course that's just my guess.) Besides MS attorneys goes
after EVERYTHING in order to protect their IP.
I got suspicous about it and decided to see what is behind it. After all you
don't build a windows compatible kernel in your spare time. In 5 minutes of
looking I could not find any traces of a Linux kernel.
Did find a website which tested the GUI: toastytech.com/guis/reactos.html
Reading what they say on their website shows that they are really rewriting
windows. They say that Wine is really more compatible with them, than with
Linux. Lot's of cross developement with Wine and Win4Linux.
Interesting work. If nothing you can read it and get a deeper understanding of
windows internals.
Quake runs on it, so it cannot be all that bad! : )
I'd personally would love to have a MS free windows to play windows games on!
Stripped down to essentials, and a bit more secure would not hurt.
