That COULD be your problem then... I believe I was using Xfree when I
installed Debian on it and got it to somewhat work (and the problems
it still had were likely due to the fact that it was a bare min
install with me adding in everything)... it might still be using that,
but I'll have to ask - can't remember if we went with stable or
testing on the second try, and the lappy in question is being
permanatly 'borrowed' right now :)
