Thanks for all the suggestions; I'll give these utilities a try.
Steve: I was thinking that dd might work, something like 'dd if=/dev/urandom
of=/dev/hdx' then rm everything and reformat to clear it...does that make
sense or would it be easier to use the other utilities? (that dban program
chris mentioned looks pretty spiffy also)
