A note one 3Ware that I've discovered. The h/w is not rating all that well
price performance wise. I can't say that I've had the data problems Ian was
talking about and they have been very supported driver wise.

(I got a contact that I trusted with hardware recommendations. This is how I
got started with 3Ware and have really been pretty happy.)

But looking a bit deeper after Ian's comment I've discovered that it does not
have any cache, which makes a big difference. It's also performing mostly at
the bottom compared with other good SATA & SCSI RAID cards.

Actually even the builtin mb SATA interface is a tad faster.

For my next RAID card I will do my own research...
