Frankly not sure what you are talking about. KDE ships with and
continues to be supported by SUSE and is the default from a server "gui"
perspective. From a Desktop perspective GNOME is the default, however
KDE is fully supported and you continue to have a choice to run either
in addition to several different types of window managers as a matter of
fact several utilities that are built for KDE are installed by default
(YaST is one of those).

Novell/SUSE also continues to be the leading contributor to KDE as
well.
