Yes, there's a particular feature of naming partitions which easily becomes a
bother.

Once you have made your first installation go into fstab and replace the first
column of harddisk partition names with the dev reference instead.

list all mounts with df or mount, make a note of the details
remove each LABEL=SWAP=hda1 and replace it with /dev/hda1 or whatever each
line says.

Then when you make a new install it won't be confused as to which of the
partitions is the one to load.

At one point I had nine O/S's installed managed with grub. Remember, grub is
located on the first install and then could be replaced by each subsequent
install.

Easiest is if you have your permanent O/S installed first. Then don't add grub
on each install. Manually go in and add the four lines for each new one.
