This is a result of Novell's anal retentive stance on licensed/free software. Expect to see fully supported versions of a popular player that supports all of the flavors coming in SLED10 SP1 (so I'm told).
I, too, have all the formats running on my SLED10 instance via mplayer, however, Novell will not support that at present due to legal concerns.
