Well, I guess that after you do some of these changes you have to commit
and then reboot the machine, that allowed me to move the linux swap part-
ition down to where I now have the disk as follows:
hda1 = ntfs = 17G
hda2 = fat32 = 2G
hda3 = swap = 1G
Free = Free = 9G
hda4 = Extended = 26.5G
      hda5 -10 reiserfs

When I attempt to either move the extended partition down to to resize it
to include the free space it will now allow me to, qtparted shows it is
available and it even has the 'resize' button available, but it only is to
reduce the size not use the free space.
