That's because "the corporate world" is technologically braindead.
I disagree that buyin from generic corporations is automatically "good
for Linux." Does it help GNU/Linux if some middle manager at Joe's
Carpet Warehouse is using Evolution or KMail to delete his spam? No,
not really. Points in the "we're popular!" game don't really matter.

What *really* helps is buyin from hardware makers (NVidia, AMD),
hardware distributors (Dell), and, to a lesser extent, home users,
because they drive hardware makers and distributors.
