[SLUG] sound modification

I'm trying to slow down a Yes song while maintaining the pitch so I can
figure out the timing on the song "Miracle of Life" (_Union_, track 7).
They do odd things with timing, e.g. "Changes" starts in 4+3+4+3+3 (17!).
I think this might be 5+5+6 / 4+2+4+2 but I'm not sure.

So far, I'm using Sox, because that's what I have. My procedure is:

rip from CD -> wav, 44100
resample -> wav, 176400
slow by factor of 4 (2 octaves) -> wav, 44100
raise pitch using Sox's "pitch" filter with "shift"=2400 (2 octaves) -> wav,
44100

It should be the same pitch as on the CD, only 4 times as slow. But the
resulting file is all buzzy and sox complains of clipping in the last step.
What can I use that does a better job?
