[SLUG] Sabayon update

I have now used Sabayon for a few weeks and done an upgrade to 2.3.

In short I'm now shopping for another distro.

The idea is excellent!

The packages included are fantastic!

But there are too many unusual solutions creating odd problems. The same DVD
installed on three different computers resulted in different programs being
listed on the menus. On some computers something would be in the menu, on
some computers some options did not work.

These are inconsistent problems stemming from the same DVD. How, I don't
know - nor do I really care anymore.

Man pages were not included until 2.3 and not fully even then. Man pages are
the cornerstone of all the Unices. Why it's so poorly implemented is a
mystery.

The installer rewrites the time stamp on almost all files and directories
under /home if you did not format it. On one install it even ate the default
users directory during install, which I had kept from before. Mepis did that
to me once but it ate the whole home partition without warning.

Even with all the shortcomings and unusual solutions it was hard to decide to
leave. Everything under the sun is included. You have a dream system
pre-configured and ready to go. Well, not quite...

It's like stepping into a twilight zone episode. Too bad! As you saw from
before I was enthralled with it. Had they had better management it would have
been the top contender.
