[SLUG] Wierd...

I have a small hard disk that I am trying to pull data off of. I put it in USB
carrier to plug it into one of my machines, but it was not recognized. The
HD is a little 351M HD, it has DOS on it and has some old programs that
I need to keep as they allow me to program radios, the only tool is the DOS
tool and I need to keep it on that machine as the programming tools are
clock sensitive (yep thanks Motorola for such wonderful software) without
the software I can not program the radios. My plan was to put the HD on
a USB HD carrier I have and pull all of the files onto one of my Linux
machines, then move the files to a new HD. but, when I plug the usb
carrier into my LInux machines the HD is not mounted. Now the wierdness,
I can replace that Hd with a 12G hd and it is mounted just fine. But that
ain't all... I can go to a machine that is running the 2.4 kernel and plug the
USB interface in with the small HD on it and that machine mounts it just
fine... I am still trying to figure out what is going on, but am really sort of
miffed over the smaller HD not being mounted. If I do a tail on /var/log/
messages, I see where the HD is assigned /dev/sda1, but any attempt
to mount it even manually fails.

Anyone have any idea of what is going on?
