I f your paper is wet, most, orr damp you may get the same effect. Keeping
spare paper in a wooden or metal box with a light bulb like one does electric
welding electrodes may help.

I've seen certain types of paper exhibit this behavior. Since it happens to
both of your printers, you might want to check the type of paper you use.
Smooth inkjet-specific paper might feed better.

I have two of the cheap HP LaserJets (5L and 6L). They produce excellent
output, take very little time to warm-up, automatically put themselves into
powersave mode, and their consumables cost is very low.
However, these models have no paper tray (just a vertical loading slot), and
both of them will screw-up and feed many sheets of paper. So I have to put
one sheet of blank paper at a time into the hopper. So I would recommend a
laser, even an HP, but make sure that it has a traditional paper tray
(perhaps a 4L, or something much newer?)
