Good, that'll probably actually work.
I installed Xubuntu from scratch. First, it didn't install the user "eben".
When I manually added that user, nothing I wrote to /home showed up. "sudo
synaptic" and "sudo aptitude" didn't work, and "add software" (or whatever
it's called) wouldn't resolve dependencies. Gnome suddenly wasn't there (I
didn't uninstall it). xfce was installed by default, but looked just like
Gnome (is that normal?). Reinstall! I got an md5 mismatch on a .deb file.
I'd say not all the bugs have been worked out of the (text-mode) installer.
