Exactly, and I don't think MS is in any better position at all. Linus put it
well when he stated that MS was not interesting enough to worry about.

They do a lot of grandstanding but in the end it's of little value.

I find that the Distro's that bother with MS are those who are more interested
in money than the community. (Not that it's wrong to seek money, without it
you're pretty much considered a criminal. But, money is the lowest of
motivators. One can have higher aims and make a good living.)

These things tend to work themselves out in the long run and nothing much will
probably change.

It's like software piracy. When I owned a software company I never worried
about them. (In fact there are indicators that thanks to them your product
gets a wider adoption.) I think it was in the 80's when the whole industry
got into trying to implement a copy protection scheme for their software,
during one year. It backfired really badly, and some of these "solutions"
would wipe out the root dir if it thought piracy was involved. It was just a
big stop and the following year everyone had pretty much stopped and gone
back to business as usual.

In the long run I find it best to concentrates on doing what one does as well
as possible and ignore the street noise.
