I have not used Pine.
I just tried IMAP on incoming.verizon.net with Thunderbird and discovered
IMAP is not supported. Need to back step that idea.
If you have doubts in Verizon Spam Detector... you could just disable it and forward all mail to another service. This is what I do with latent "mailboxes@verizon.net".
