Re: [SLUG] PCMCIA Hell

The first suggestion that I can make would be to boot the LiveCD that
worked, do lsmod, and write down what modules are actually loaded. Boot the
installed system, do lsmod, and compare that to what the LiveCD loaded.

What are the last few lines of dmesg after inserting the card?

It could be a udev related issue as well since Hal/udev is handling most
events in most distros these days.

I would also compare the pcmcia config files on the LiveCD and the installed
system to see what differences exist, if any.

More information on my problem with the pcmcia issues. I have a IBM T-42.
All of the distros appear to work just fine on that machine. they find the
card
and bring up the network, so it appears to be something with the pcmcia
part, not sure if it is the age of the pcmcia chip... The machine is a
toshiba
490XCDT, here is what I have found out about the pcmcia system on this
machine:
2 x PC Card Type II or 1 x PC Card Type III, ZV port & CardBus support,

Here is the data on the pcmcia system on the IBM T42
# Conforms to the PC Card Standard 95
# The Type III slot can accommodate two Type I, two Type II, or one
Type III PC card
# Both 16-bit and 32-bit cards are supported.
# PCMCIA 2.1 standard.

Now if I can just sort this out and figure out what I have to do to get
the thing to work reliably.
