First of all this thread was about an Office package that IBM released which requires 1 GIG of RAM MIM recommended... It was not to be let's stir up anger and some do seem to be almost to the point of that...

My whole point on this is that IBM has Lotus Smart Suite... I can not figure out why they just have not open sourced this product... Would be simpler to open source this rather then jumping into a new Office Suite which requires 3 to 4 times the resources...

Also Symphony is a name the used years ago for a Spread Sheet app which blew away 1 2 3.... They kept the 1 2 3 name and product and swept out Symphony...

IBM seems to have an uncanny knack for doing things bass ackwards...

IBM could take the Lotus Suite open source it and since them and Sun are working together make this a huge project between them and the open source community...

Together this could take things to a higher level then it has ever been... I also can't believe that IBM has not even considered Open Sourcing Lotus Smart Suite... Also they have not replied to Coder Weavers to make it work with Crossover... This too does not make sense if they want to have a Office Suite that will rival Office...

IBM can offer a total solution and service yet something Microsoft can not... Also IBM is one company that Microsoft can not tame!!!

Even if IBM does not want to open source Lotus Smart Suite which would be stupid on their part... It's a product that if given for free as well it would shake things up...

Perhaps a petition would help IBM get on track... How ever as mentioned in some of the post... Unless enough people get together and demand it and show a demand it's not going to do any good to start blamming anyone or anything else...

It takes a team and team work to make things happen...
