Technically, I don't know much about ReiserFS, other than the fact that
it stores data in a B-tree type arrangement (IIRC). However, his kernel
mods have traditionally had a hard time making it into the kernel tree,
because he's been unwilling to address the issues brought up by the
kernel hackers. And now with his murder trial, it's left up to his
company, Namesys, to continue development. But because of his legal
expenses, it appears he's looking to sell the company.

Don't quote me-- this is from memory. Check the Wikipedia article on
Reiser4, and its references. There have been a number of lwn.net
articles about ReiserFS over the years, and the friction between Hans
and the kernel developers.

I'd take Ian's advice.
