A good all-around-tool to have is the System Rescue CD, which
incidentally includes dban AND dd_rescue.

I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend you burn a copy of this ISO, it will
save you time if and when things break. When I was working in the Sago
Datacenter, I had this on a USB drive. Saved me the trouble of pulling
racks to fix them.
