Odd. The two frequencies most used in North America are 850 and 1900MHz.
There should be a lot more interference inside your computer (1+ GHz range)
than from your cell phone. Is the burner grounded properly to the case? Is
there a window in the case? A shielded cable might help. You can wrap a
grounded wire around the SATA cable to test this theory.

I changed to a SATA after using a PATA for about a year and the SATA
burns a coaster if I am wearing my cell phone while it is writing, because
it "phones home" every few minutes with it's geographic coordinates, (ATT)
I can hear when it does it in my speakers and the telephone.

The only reason I changed is my longest PATA cable is too short and
the drive had to be recessed 1/2".
