It was the power supply. My friend brought over a 500W PS and with that it
fired right up. He offered to sell me that one (it was brand new), but mine
was 530W (not that I needed the extra 30W), was black (meh), had a blue LED
(meh), had a fan (which I do think is important) and had modular cords
(ditto). Off to Newegg to pick one out. Sorry about the HTML from my
