OK, after entering past all that I get to the bottom

pete@pete-desktop:~$ firefox-3.5
*NOTICE* No previous firefox-3.5 profile found, we'll initialize a
profile using a copy of your existing 'firefox' profile.

  done.

  Then it opens up a new copy of firefox called "Shiretoko". All the
same stuff I had open in firefox, and firefox is still open. Yes,
Mozilla has become M$.
