Here is the first excerpt from the README file regarding the compile

-------------------------------------------------SOT-----------------------------------------------
Just type 'make' and then 'insmod vloopback'.
If you want more pipes use 'insmod vloopback pipes=N' with N between 1 and 16.
If you want to create spare pipes use 'spares=N'.

A bit further down there is another piece of instructions

--------------------------------------------------SOT----------------------------------------------
make ; su - ; make install
/sbin/modprobe videodev
/sbin/modprobe vloopback

I need to set up vloopback in order to get the video out of the firewire
cams and into something useful (Coriander is nice but I want to use
that excellent video from these Basler cams for some other stuff)

The camera is a Basler 601fc. A good little 640x480 camera, it is
fast and produces very good video.

So far the only solution I have been able to find is running Coriander
and letting it stream the video into vloopback, vloopback makes it
available as a /dev/vidox where x=a number such as video0, video1
video2 etc. I am just trying to get vloopback going so I can put that
video to use.
