Yes. Cisco routers and Switches, as well as HP's, all have a RJ45 connector
for the console that is actually a serial port. I'm configuring one right
now. All command line stuff. FWIW, the Keyspan USB-to-Serial adapter works
well.
Yes, you'd think it would be USB, but lots of sites attach a modem to that
port via serial, so they can admin the router if the ISP or network
connection goes down.

picked up the original netbook when i went on vacation, got suckered
in to playing computer repair guy for the family, fixed 7 windows PCs
and 2 laptops, kepts one laptop as payment
Sony vaio 12.1" screen
just need a W key, cd/dvd drive and battery to have it up to fighting
fit, runs just fine as is but having the ability to use CDs woud be
nice. would let me reinstall the OS.
