I tried Ubuntu and Kbuntu, I stay with Slackware, so I guess.
In a console when you <enter> "dmesg | less" do you get boot information?
If so, can you find where the floppy device/s are recognized? Is it being mounted ro
(read only) by any chance? (it should be scrollable)
