I don't care either way. But generally, I think that if someone is
sending a point-by-point reply to someone else's lengthy email, then it
is a good idea to break up the reply with well-formatted & quoted bits
of the original email.
OTOH, if the reply is just a couple of sentences that speak to the
entire message, then it's ok to put it at the top. I think it is
preferable to scrolling through a couple of pages to find out the
answer is "No. version 2.5b12 Build 23H1 was buggy like that. Try the
latest CVS."
Heh... since we're on the subject... what is really, really annoying to
me is quoting the message and leaving in all of the non-pertinent
residue of past replies -- like listware-added sigs, personal sigs
(some of which can by obscenely large by themselves),
personal/corporate disclaimers, etc. They end up getting all rewrapped
and reformatted to hell.
