[SLUG] I'm back

Hey all.. I been off line for a while. I got a few bugs worked out for a set
of new ones to crop up - qt refused to compile for 5 days straight so I
bought Mandrake 8. I installed it, and I see the 3d crashing thing again. A
guy I talked to on the phone (Ed... you know who I'm talking about but I
didn't get the message to call him until yesterday) told me Suse 7.1 was
better.

Well he was probably right, but Mandrake was on sale so I got that instead.
I like the fact that it set up DRI for my voodoo3, but then some OGL programs
crash X and some do not, so I have no idea what's going on with it.

As much as I like supermount, easy hardware config, not having to mess with
a command line if I don't want to, and *knowing* that an rpm package will run
on my system, there is still something that gives much more satisfaction than
installing from an rpm, and that's getting it all to work yourself.

So here's my dilemma - has anyone solved the problem of compiling qt without
internal compiler errors on the first try? Surely trolltech can't be
releasing code they haven't test compiled, but that's exactly what it looks
like.
