You're probably going to have to kill the server, then replace the
"mysql" datafiles in the "var" directory wherever MySQL is keeping its
datafiles with fresh ones without a root password from a source
distribution.
Keep copies of your old ones so you can try to restore any information
you might have had in there...
I don't know of any other ways.
