I am NOT amused.
I started getting these error messages immediately after installing new ram
on an ASUS K7V (slot A) with a K7-750mhz cpu.
"Invalid session number or type of track"
"Kernel Panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 03:05"
Thinking the partition holding root had failed, ("substance" happens) I
totally re-installed.
Then I re-installed while switching from ReiserFS to Ext2 for the root
partition.
Then I manually fdisk'd the whole shebang and started over. I have, in fact,
done 3 full and 2 partial installs tonight.
The bios sees 1.5 g of ram. Linux has been told about it (during each of the
installs). The mobo certainly supports this ram (3 x 512MB / PC133). But I am
definitely getting a recalcitrant error message and am forced to write this
email from the HP machine.
Oh yeah ... the Linux version is Mandrake 7.2. I don't think this is much of
a factor but I am including it for completeness.
Help?
