Another option is to use CODA, which solves some potential issues with NFS.
CODA is a bit more robust that either samba or NFS.
for Linux-to-Linux only networks I would use CODA, for Linux-to-Unix networks
I would use NFS, and for Linux-to-Windows I would use samba...in a
Linux+UNIX+Windows I would also use samba.
Functionally from a users's point of view, they work they same...
