Greetings to all in the Suncoast Linux Users Group,
I am a new member of SLUG, so first of all, thanks to those who have
organized the group and allowing me and also my company, ISG Inc., to be
a part of it.
No surprise that the job market is tough right now. I founded ISG in
November of 2001 because, after moving to Tampa from Austin, Texas for
personal reasons, found out there were no IT jobs. We all already
understand that you face a choice of doing what you have done in IT for
years or move on to something else.
ISG is a startup in the truest sense of the word. We are funding our
company from our revenue stream. Since November, we have worked for
four different clients and been able to meet our payroll since January.
Our original business plan called for a March timeframe to begin paying
our employees.
We are struggling to move forward. Some days, it doesn't seem like much
progress is being made, yet we also know that we have made the only
right decision we could make.
My message is this. Stay the course. We all listen to the news and
know that the economy is improving. More opportunities will develop.
Anyone with Linux expertise is at the front of the line.
