[SLUG] New newsforge stinks

Since I know Tina and Robin are around here, I have to say it.

The new Newsforge and Linux.com site stinks. I liked the old newsforge
much better, and liked the fact they were different. The new
look-n-feel is atrocious, IMHO, with way too much information trying to
be crammed into too small a space. I pretty much agree with all the
other negative comments attached to the "New site" story as well,
particularly the "Where's my comics" and "where's the newsvac summaries"
ones.

And I don't know if it's the new look or new servers or the fact the two
sites have been combined or what, but I typed in "newsforge.com" about
two minutes ago and it's still loading all the little corners and
borders and whatnot. (Oops, and after about five minutes, I finally get
a bunch of "Broken image" icons as they all time out.)

It's sad, because newsforge has been my homepage since Linuxworld.com
went down the tubes some time ago because of the nice combination of
original content at the top and the quick summaries of news from around
the net underneath. (Slashdot hasn't been my homepage for quite a long
time, although I check it about once a day still.) I might conceivably
be able to get used to the look, but the lack of newsvac summaries
really blows it and even more, the fact that it's taking several minutes
to respond to my requests makes it completely out.

Now I don't have a good homepage anymore... :(

Maybe I'll have to start my own linux news site.

What do the rest of you have for homepages with good
tech/linux/free-software summaries of news from around the net?
