Re: [SLUG] Mandrake -- What to do with the ISO image CD's?

the iso file is an image of an iso9660 file system, which is the
standard we use for a CD. You have to convert the image file to a CD,
not just copy it over. I have always used cdrecord to do it with my 4x
speed ide CD writer.

cdrecord -v -eject speed=4 dev=0,0 thecdimage.iso

You can see what device your burner is by the cdrecord -scanbus command,
and if you don't have any scsi devices other than your cd writer (which
is probably an ide version), then the device will most likely be 0,0,0.
I only put two because I'm lazy and I don't have more than one scsi bus
(and that one is emulated by ide-scsi).

after you have the images transferred to CD, you either create boot
disks from Windows or Linux and then install by booting off of those
boot floppies, or you boot off of the CD by adjusting your BIOS to boot
from CD.
