ALWAYS wipe the drive before passing it along ... unless your private data
means nothing at all to you. And that's a WIPE, not a simple delete.

But then that means that the school will have to install -something- to make
the machine useable and that's where the problems with the BSA have arisen.
The schools do what they can afford ... and that has meant using pirated
software. Otherwise they would find themselves installing $60 operating
systems on $25 machines.

This is an excellent opportunity to make a pitch for Linux. Just be certain
to include an install CD in the drive of donated equipment and a brief note
that software piracy is illegal but that the enclosed copy of Linux is not
legally encumbered.
