I can use a bit of help/suggestions please. I was given a
scanner a few days back, its an older scsi scanner by
mustek. Model MFS-6000CX,its a big clunky thing runs on
direct 110 v. There is no problem with the scanner, as a
matter of fact it does really great things when it is
operating. Here is the meat of the problem. With SuSE 8.0 I
cant get the distro to accept(or even identify) the scsi
card I have---Qlogic fas-- and therefore cant use SuSE.
With Mandrake there is no problem with the card or
identifying the scanner model and all---but--whenever I
fire up kooka it will sometimes perform a scan and
sometimes not,sometimes will freeze the whole box up
forcing a cold shutdown. I would prefer to run in SuSE on
that box but would run Mandrake-- IF--I could get the
software to function properly. I have searched and cant
seem to find anything that particully adresses this
problem.
Specifically :
1.How can I get SuSe to "see" the scsi card I so I can get
this scanner to work in SuSE.
2 Forgoing the first what could I be doing wrong in Mandrake
to cause kooka to freeze up the entire box?
3. Is there a scanner prog that will work other/better than
kooka?
This is being done an a box with the following:
Pentium PII450
230 megs ram
Maxtor 40 Gig HDD
Compusa house brand video card w/16 megs--PCI using SIS
300/305 drivers
- ---Vue Scan has NO support for mustek
- ---Sane page shows support for mustec-including the one I
have
- --- xsane wont even start up---!
- ---I havent yet tried xscanimage. going to try to load it up
