Re: [SLUG] cheap digital camera and linux

I have one of the Olympus 2100 cameras and I use Gphoto2 to download the
pictures, but I also use a card reader. Some of the newest USB cameras
are just seen as a storage device, so you would mount it and treat it as
any other mounted file system instead of using gphoto.

One thing I didn't mention is that if your ebay items are small, like
postage stamps or coins, then the macro ability of the camera comes into
play. You would have to check out the various photo sites for cheap
cameras that do alright in macro mode if you want to fill the entire
photo frame with your item. Some photo sites with reviews are
steves-digicams.com (he's local), dpreview.com, imaging-resource.com

Once you find a camera you would like, pricegrabber.com can give you
some example prices.
