I hate having that log window pop-up. My ugly solution (bring on the
flames) is to "rm /usr/X11R6/bin/xconsole" soon after a Linux install.
There is probably a more graceful way to prevent launching xconsole, but
you CAN find a china cup with with a bulldozer!
