I'm sorry to hear about your experiences. I use GNOME on Red Hat 8.0
and it works great. I've had no issues with anything in Red Hat 8.0.
For me, that's VERY unusual. Normally I re-install at least once within
24 hours.

The Install GUI is a little different, but I think once you play with
GNOME on Red Hat 8.0, you'll come to like it. I was a KDE man since
starting Linux, but once I saw GNOME, I made the change. It took me
about 30 minutes to find everything I needed, but I rather enjoy it
now. I'll be curious to see how you like KDE.
