Generally I have convinced those that have trusted me with clear and
detailed cost analysis. I focus on the cost of the hardware and the cost of
the software (comparing and effective system running M$ NT or 2K server,
cost of licenses, cost of features - mySQL vs M$ SQL, sendmail vs. exchange)
I suggest focusing on topics "they" can relate to - Money. Put in those
terms they might be willing.
