As I stated earlier I did a re-install and just completed the updates. Here is
my new problem. I installed without kde because I wanted to install kde3.1
and not go through all the hassles of removing old kdelibs and such, I just
figured without anu kde the install of 3.1 would be easier, it was. Because I
didnt install kde until I was completely done with the initial install and
upgrade kde doesnt have any of the debian apps in its menu.
I know I can do menu edit and add apps individually but is there any way I can
have all the debian apps recognised by kde and entered in the menus without
doing it on a one at a time basis?
On the previous install I installed kde with the debian install and when I was
done with the update to kde3.1 all the debian menus were still there and any
freshly installed apps were included in the menus, kde included. Now all I
have is the kde apps but none of the debian apps included in the menu. The
kde menu help/how-to has nothing about adding menu blocks, it does however
indicate how to enter individual items. It would take a huge amt of time to
do each entry on a one at a time basis,so i was wondering if there is a way
to include like a gnome menu and a fluxbox menu to the kde menu. Adding thos
would add just about every app, or is there a way to add the debian menus?
I am searching now for a way to do it and havent found anything yet so I am
asking for help.
Oh, and as was offered in the earlier replies I have installed nano and
practicing with it. I did find most of the emacs keystrokes= on the web and
printed them for reference so am trying that also, but this menu thing is
really getting to me.

                    Thanks,
                    A J
