Paul,
I did restart X because I actually did think of that ( amazing isnt it) ,but
no dice. What I was getting at was with the previous install when I installed
kde along with the base install there was a menu entry in every sub with just
debian and the entries in that sub was all the debian packages. So the menu
would have the standard kde menu but in every menu sub (
settings-office-system- etc) there would be an entry that just had debian and
the entries in that were all the apps that were either already installed or
later added with apt or synaptic.
I think that was just a feature of the basic libranet install and was just
carried over when I upgraded to debian/sid. It was nice, compact and thats
what I was aiming for but hell Im a happy camper now anyway, just got both
the laserjet and deskjet configured and set so now Im off to play with the
editors and see what I can screw up next.
