I really don't like Kmail, so I've been behind on the SLUG email
curve...sorry.

libstdc++.so.3 is needed for mix2000 or audacity? I forget.
I did a: rpm -q --whatrequires /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.3.0.4
and
rpm -q --whatrequires /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.3
nothing turned up.

Regardless, the package that provides it is:
libstdc++3-3.0.4-1
so maybe you could do a search for it?

I've heard a sym link is not a good choice. On the
http://heroinewarrior.com/download.php3 site, they recommedend installing
Cinelerra (large package) with
rpm -i --force --nodeps <package name>
