I'll second that statement. But, I will also say that I see some slippage
occurring. More and more, I see questions about a specific problem with a
specific product, which are answered with "try this other product" and
"You're answer is in the man pages".

I've never understood why people feel they must do this. It is my opinion,
that if someone cannot or will not answer the person's question specifically,
then they should refrain from responding. RTFM is a completely unhelpful post
that wastes bandwidth and annoys people.

Most recently I saw a request for help on SLUG with a floppy drive problem. It
was responded to with a slew of, "try this other distro instead". This seems,
to me, like a rather ridiculous extreme, to replace the entire distro for the
sake of a single "minor" problem, no?
