I know you can re-install W2000 pretty much as often
as you want... but XP is a different matter.. From my
understanding XP has code that insists on connecting
to Microsoft to validate the license. If is finds a
copy of XP that is not validated it will
de-install/disable it on the spot.. and if you want to
re-install.. you can but only once. The third install
will need to be ok'd by calling MS for a new install
key.
