Banyan Vines. Oh, how well I know that.

A Banyan Vines server was nothing more than a heavily modified Unix
server (System3 I believe) with their own proprietary ethernet based
filesharing protocol. Most people never knew the Unix origins.

Ahh.. streettalk...

Back in the day, it was a real trick to load an NDIS driver, ODI shim,
Crynwr PKT shim, Banyan core, Novel core, and still have enough
conventional memory to start up Windows 3.1 with Microsoft's own NetBEUI
stack. The xms/ems hacks that were needed weren't at all pretty.

The software you have in your posession is Banyan Enterprise Network
Services (ENS) for Netware. The port extender is probably a licensing
dongle (without which, the software will not function).

I avoid Netware whenever possible, thanks ;)
