Well I found out why the sound wont work but I dont know how
to fix it. I am getting better at this though.
It seems that with alsa there is a kernel patch that is
added and that has to be "called" at boot(forgive me if the
terminology is wrong) well all the info refers to lilo but
the system is using grub so I havent a clue as to where/how
to do the following.
I am assuming that this is what is missing in making my
sound function, according to the config readme it states
that in the /etc/kernel-img.conf I have to add a line as
such "do_initrd=yes", well there is no such file anywhere
on this debian system that I could find(/etc/kernel-img I
mean).
The other part is in the /etc/lilo and in /boot, I have to
add initrd=/initrd.img to the image=vmlinuz.
Well I havent done either because there are no such files on
this system. I would assume there is an equivilent or at
the very least an adaptation to the debian and grub but
cannot find that anywhere.
I was wondering can anyone translate the above and tell me
how it would relate to a debian based system and how to use
it with grub?
I mean I know that if it doesnt load then I wont have the
proper kernel and therefore no sound but I just dont have
enough savvy to translate those lines to the equivlent
lines in a debian system with grub.
Thanks
A J
