I could use some help. I am running kind of debian, it
started as libranet and I did an upgrade so it is kind of a
little of libranet and every other debian out there. I
believe it to be mostly sarge though.
OK, I have an IBM ThinkPad(PII 366 with 280+megs) and I am
having a ton of probs getting the sound up and running,
and, getting it to recognize the docking station.
I have done google and even linux-thinkpad.org and a few
others. I have printed a ream of the do this and do that
and tried most all of them. Different modules, different
start-ups, etc. I must be in with the worlds most
incompatent linux users because I cant get sound or the
docking station at all, not even a glimmer.
I was hoping that there would be a debian guru type(paul are
you reading this?) that might try to give me a hand.
I could/would bring the dock and laptop( and all this stuff
I have printed up) to the dunedin meeting and maybe could
slog through it there??
I really have tried all the edit the config and enter this
module and build this stuff but I might just not be doing
it right.
I know the sound card works because I installed windows,it
wouldnt work in 98 but works fine with xp-same for the
dock. I have downloaded and done about every apt-get
imaginable and still no sound or dock.Meanwhile everything
else on it is working really great. Anybody brave enough to
help out?? I sure could use it because I just dont have a
clue what to do next.
